Qualification Credit Framework (QCF)
Credits
As we all know, POINTS MEAN PRIZES!
Whatever our student's end goals are, we have a duty as educators to provide learning opprtunities that will enable them to progress to their next stage.
Learn2 are big fans of the QCF as it allows learners to complete bite-size (or even credit-size!) chunks of qualifications and effectively 'bank' their credits until they have enough to gain certification:
- Diploma = 37+ credits (100 points at level 1)
- Certificate = 21 credits (50 points at level 1)
- Award = 6 credits (12.5 points at level 1)
Unique Learner Numbers (ULN)
When a learner completes credits in multiple locations (maybe at school/college/placement) each establishment can 'bank' their accomplished credits against their ULNs.
MIAP controls the Learner Registration Body (LRB) which issues ULNs. Schools must register with MIAP as Learner Registration Bodies. Instructions for registration are held in The Implementation Guide found under The Learner Registration Service on the MIAP website.

For those of you working in old school money and outside of Foundation Learning, the current point score equivalents are as follows:
- A* = 58
- A = 52
- B = 46
- C = 40
- D = 34
- E = 28
- F = 22
- G = 16
