National Curriculum Physical Education (NCPE) Core Task Cards

Introduction

Learn2 produced the Core Task Cards® resource whilst teaching Physical Education full-time at a school for children with Special Educational Needs. As Core Tasks were introduced throughout the UK by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF), Becki Coombe (Director) felt that the Core Tasks needed to be published more clearly and be more readily be available for both a Teacher and Students to access, understand and use on a regular basis.

Eighteen months, later, Learn2 published the UK’s first NCPE Core Task resource pack in the form of Core Task Cards...

Care Task Cards’ Features:

• A4 durable single task description cards that are split into nine different activity area folders

Integrating Core Tasks

In addition to producing the Core Task Card resource, Learn2 offer a service whereby Staff and Leaders can become acquainted with Core Task Cards and experiment in ways to deliver NCPE core tasks in weekly lessons, in a relaxed manner. We would hope that following such a session; a practitioner would be comfortable adding NCPE core task sessions into teaching plans and existing schemes of work. In the event that the practitioner has limited time, Learn2 would be happy to amend and update department schemes of work to feature NCPE Core Tasks.

CPD Sessions

Learn2 are keen to work alongside schools introducing NCPE core tasks and Core Task Cards to primary, secondary, teaching and support Staff, as well as to trainees such as NQTs, GTPs and PGCEs. The design of the Core Task Cards make it ideal for non-specialists and ‘helpers’ to deliver and support NCPE core task lessons.
