Qualifications and Awards
Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF)
The Department for Children, Schools and Families leads work across Government to ensure that all children and young people secure an excellent education and the highest possible standards of achievement. Suggested Physical Education ‘Core Tasks’ for all Key Stages can be accessed via the http://www.dcsf.gov.uk/ site by clicking on Schemes of Work PE, clicking on the relevant activity and then clicking Core Task(s) from the left hand menu.

The DCSF standards site details the national standards that are expected to be taught in all school subjects across Key Stages 1, 2, 3 and 4. Duke of Edinburgh's Award
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is a programme of activities offered to young adults between the ages of fourteen and twenty-five. There are three Awards to choose from: Bronze, Silver and Gold. Each Award has a Skill, Service, Physical and Expedition section that must be completed. For the Gold Award a Residential section must also be completed.
National Qualifications Framework (NQF)
The NQF is formerly known as the National Database of Accredited Qualifications (NDAQ). The database contains details of qualifications that are accredited by the government’s regulatory organisations in England (QCA), Wales (DCELLS) and Northern Ireland (CCEA). Users can search for details on current and expired accredited qualifications.

Princes Trust
The Prince’s Trust is a UK charity that helps young people overcome barriers and get their lives working. The Prince’s Trust offer ‘XL’ clubs that can be run in schools three hours per week. The XL Award is accredited by ASDAN and is in the process of applying for points that will be transferable to the National Framework.

Sports Leaders UK
Sports Leaders UK is the new operating name of the British Sports Trust. The registered charity aims to inspire people and communities through leadership qualifications in sport. Some of the awards are transferable as points/credits on the National Framework.
The Scouts Association
The Scout Association provides adventurous activities and personal development opportunities for 400,000 young people aged between six and twenty-five. Whilst Scout awards are not on the National Framework, young adults that are working towards Scout (and Guide) badges and awards can often cross-reference their achievements to Duke of Edinburgh Award sections and to Key Skill challenges.
First Aid
The Health and Safety Executive
The Health and Safety Executive and local Government are the enforcing authorities working in suport of the Health and Safety Commission. The Commision are responsible for health and safety regulation in Great Britain. Information on all aspects of first aid at work can be found by selecting First aid at work in the ‘health and safety topic’ box.
The Resuscitation Council
The UK Resuscitation Council provide regularly updated education and reference materials regarding the most effective methods of resuscitation.
Driving
Government Public Services Directory
This Government site lists all of the rules and regulations surrounding learning to drive or ride. Application forms for practical and theory tests can also be downloaded or completed online.
Driver Standards Agency Theory Test Practice
Once you have registered, this site enables you free access to two car and two motorcycle theory tests. Users are also able to subscribe to a paid service that provides access to the full official car and motorcycle DSA Question Banks as used in the real tests.

Women's Business Development Agency
The Women’s Business Development Agency promotes, supports and develops female-run businesses and helps women into work. The WBDA offer advice on all aspects of starting a new business including: business planning, market research, raising finance and legal advice. The WBDA will help through the process of developing and writing a business plan, through launch stage and beyond. They also offer a series of courses particularly useful to business start-ups.
